My Dad

i've never really mentioned my real dad or our relationship but since we've just passed fathers day i thought i would.. the man mum lives with now is my stepdad who i've never seen eye to eye with until these recent months and despite the pain he caused me in the past i feel that i should look out for him now (he's quite a bit older than my mum, in his mid 50's now...not necessarily old but he had a stroke and his mental state isnt what i would describe as normal).

with him i've been on an emotional journey because i can finally move on from the problems he caused and even use my experiences for the better.

megan has played her part in this of course in more ways than one, her stepdad died recently and she didnt have the chance to forgive the things he did properly and it hurts her, i dont want that.

Life is a strange Journey.

One of the things I have learned is this: we can not make people into what we want them to be: family members included. I hope, at some point in the future, your Dad realizes he has a Son: a very special person and that he should have treated you as the special one you are. And, when that time comes, if it does...we can only hope....I hope you are able to let the past go and start at that point with him. You may only have a few days or years, and, yes, there will be scars, however, it might be worth the effort.

What percentage of the congregation only see each other at the hall or f/s?

it's fairly well established that organized social activity is almost non-existent in kingdom halls worldwide.. .

the purpose of going to the hall and preaching is to worship god.

yet, the wt leave out a critical component to their.

If you walked into any local KH in the Ozarks and had those df'd and reproved for sexual activitiy outside thier marriage bed raise thier hands it would look like, for just a momment, a "praise Jesus" momment in a Pentacostal Church.

I would say, at least here in the Ozark region, there is quite a lot of "social activity" going on outside the KH walls!

i mean the people, not the religion.

in fact it moved me to make concession to a stalking jw, allowing them to be reinstated to the board this week.

i know they hate me nonetheless - but i still love them.

I meant I would "hope" for him: hope, to start with, that he would change his mind as far as his intent to damage me. Hope that he could change and give up this type of action permantly. Hope that he might accept the Good News and accept the fact that his inner core could be transformed and the impulse to evil would be overcome in an induring dynamic.

We can hope all we want: it does not change what is happening in the here and now. And, we have to deal with the immediate set of circumstances with our former associates in the JWs.

I can not say I "love" the JWs. This is because I am still a babe in this Christian walk. I am growing. I know I will be judged in the same way I judge others. Now, today, I see the JWs as sons and daughters of Satan. I see them as anti-Christ. Black hearted. Liers. Lovers of false teaching. Self deluded. Hatefull. They are spiritual fecal matter piled hip high and stinky.

I do not think I am far from right on what they are. However, my imaturity in Christ is not allowing me the pity and compassion I should have on thier insanity.

This is my error, not thiers. Here, you are much further down the path of Love than me.

Speaking of hope: I hope to catch up to you! :-)

I wrote a fairly long reply to your question and, and, then, hit a button and lost it. My last sentence went something like this:

So, yes, I love the JWs: in the same way I would "love" a man trying to kill me with a knife. I would hope the best for him, now, and, in eternity, however, that hope would not distract me from the business at hand.

Why they won't try again...

i have spoken to two jw's today's who are well acquainted with my non-conformist stand and absence from the meetings.

much difference in their readjustment approach <emotional v logical> but they shared this in common: .

they both explicitly refused my invitation to pursue the conversation to another session - both said they saw no basis for 'getting anywhere' and didn't see the point of endless conversations...i accept that but also think... .

In the movie "Troy" the charicter played by Brad Pitt approached the wall and challanged one of the leaders of Troy to personal battle...remember that? Sorry, have to go to work and can't look up the names.....

The warrior comes down, goes out, and fights. Win, loose, draw: doesn't matter.

The JWs, like this scene, or, like the soldiers in the Battle LIne of Israel when challanged by Golieth, are challanged to come off the wall and fight out in the open.

They will not. They cower and quiver and pee thier little pannies in the face of fact, logic, and capable arguementation.

They are wall clingers. Yet, they boast and crow from the wall as if they were capable of comming down and backing it up.

Old saying: the have an eagle mouth and a parakeeet a**.

a jw i used to know died recently.

she was almost exactly the same age as me - we were born just days apart.

she had battled cancer for almost a decade.

I lost my little sister to colon cancer when she was thirty seven. Per my Mom's request I gave the talk at her funeral...I still still a JW, then....did the best I could. I wish, for all of us, things had, were different. Empathy.....

Passive,

A person is either going in a straight line or going in circles.

A straight line requires two points....same with "charting a course."

If you know where you started and where you are: you have two points.

If you know your present location and where your goal is: you have two points.

You were with the WT and now you are here: that is a straight line of escape.

Now, you need to figure out where you WANT to be, draw the line, chart the course, and go "full sail."

This is the reason I tell people I did not attend "worship services" but, I attended Business Meetings for thirty plus years.

The WT is in the BUSINESS of selling the "Kingdom Message" as they view it. This is a BUSINESS model (as some other post mentioned) and the interactions of the sales force and the way it is managed is comparable to a paranoid, out of touch business enviroment: on acid and filled with sexual frustration, petty jelousy, and back stabing political manuvering.

Once you understand that: well, with a bit of dementia added, and. it ALL makes sense.

Here is another point: After Tom was booted, he checked with a large printer and found a commercial printer, making a profit, and paying all the overhead could produce the WT mag CHEAPER than the Society.

Go figure......
